Fluid made by glands inside the vagina and cervix carries away dead cells and
bacteria. This keeps the vagina clean and prevent infection. Most vaginal

- Bloody or brown discharges might mean irregular menstrual cycles or less often cervical or endometrial cancer which is cancer of the uterus. Symptoms, mostly abnormal vaginal bleeding and pelvic pain.
- Cloudy or yellow discharges might mean gonorrhea. Symptoms bleeding in between periods, urinary incontinence and pelvic pain.
- Frothy, yellow or greenish with bad smell might mean trichomoniasis which is a common STD mostly contracted by people with multiple sex partners. Symptoms pain and itching whiles urinating.
- Pink discharges might mean shedding of the uterine lining after childbirth (lochia).
- Thick, white cheesy discharges might mean yeast infection which is candidiasis. Symptoms swelling and pain around the vulva, itching and painful sexual intercourse.
- White, gray or yellow with fishy odor might mean bacterial vaginosis which is a mild infection of the vagina caused by bacteria. Symptoms itching or burning, redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva
Most of these vaginal discharges are curable when detected
early therefore it is advisable to see a doctor when one suffer these symptoms. Also theses vaginal discharges comes as a result of some things that come into contact with the reproductive system however, it is good to know how to prevent oneself from experiencing these abnormal discharges.
